Easter Egg Hunt
March 22, 2008 @ 1:00pm
Hundreds of area children gather at the historic Far Hills Fairgrounds to search for colorful Easter eggs. The contest, sponsored by the Lions Club and assisted by volunteers of the Far Hills Bedminster Fire Department, attract children of all ages to search for hidden and some not-so-hidden eggs to bring home.
Participants are divided into several age groups which corresponded to a specific area of play. Through the fire truck loud speaker the kids are asked to line up and get ready for the countdown to the fire truck's siren signifying the start of the event. Anxious kids cross the line at the sound of the siren. It didn't take long for all the eggs to become discovered by the energetic group.
Cash and candy prizes are awarded to lucky egg holders as the entire crowd gathers around the fire truck listening for their lucky egg number to be drawn. For some who are not so lucky in finding an egg, children with several eggs are encouraged to share with others so everyone goes home feeling good about the event.
