The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department is always looking for new members to fill various positions within the department.
If you are interested in joining, please stop by the firehouse and fill out a membership application in person or print out the PDF application and mail it in or drop it off at the firehouse on one of our drill nights: Extrication training is on the 2nd Wednesday, and Regular Training and Work Detail Nights are the 3rd and 4th Thursdays.
There is no experience necessary. All training is provided to you for free.

Types of Members
Structural Firefighter
This person will actively participate in the handling of all emergencies that we are dispatched to. This person will complete the NJ Firefighter I course, the NJSP Hazardous Materials Awareness course, and the SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) training. This person will be responsible for the rescue of civilians and protection of property. This person will enter dangerous environments, including but not limited to burning/smoke-filled structures, gas-filled enclosures and water. This person will also perform vehicular rescue and the containment / clean-up of hazardous materials.
Non-Structural Firefighter
This person will actively participate in the handling of all emergencies that we are dispatched to. This person will complete the NJ Firefighter I course and the Hazardous Materials Awareness course. This person will perform various functions to support the Structural Firefighters without entering a structure, including but not limited to the driving of emergency apparatus, pump / water supply operations, rehabilitation of exhausted firefighters, SCBA bottle exchanges and moving equipment / supplies (handtools, lights, generators, hoses, portable pumps, etc).
Fire Police
This person will actively participate in the handling of all emergencies that we are dispatched to. This person will complete the NJ Fire Police I course. This person will perform various functions to ensure the safety of other members and equipment on emergency scenes, including but not limited to traffic control and crowd control.
Associate Member
This person does not actively participate in the handling of emergencies, but participates in various administrative functions to help the department. There is no training requirement. Functions include but are not limited to fund raising, photography, publicity & community relations, legal support and secretarial support.
